Cyber Career Pathways: Your Future Starts Here
30th April 2025
Sheffield Hallam University
CyberFirst and Sheffield Hallam University hosted the "Cyber Career Pathways: Your Future Starts Here" event for Yorkshire and Humber schools and colleges on the 30th April 2025.
200 pupils, aged 14-16, attended the event where they heard from a number of industry specialists, learned about pathways into a range of cyber security careers, tested their skills in two cyber security and digital forensic workshops, and finally listened to some current Sheffield Hallam degree students sharing their journeys.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr Jerry Cheung graced the event as the VIP Guest.
The event was planned and coordinated by 24 Sheffield Hallam students as part of their Project Based Learning module. They designed and planned the whole day. They created 5 different cyber security and digital forensic workshops for the event and voted within the project team as to which two workshops to run on the day (All 5 workshops have been made available to the schools).

As the pupils from Archbishop Sentamu Academy, Beverley High School, Bingley Grammar School, Carlton Bolling, Dixons City Academy, Eckington School, Leeds UTC, Oasis Academy Don Valley, Parkwood Academy, and Scarborough University Technical College arrived at the event they were greeted by the Hallam students, who welcomed everyone and guided them into their first workshop.
Sheffield Hallam students coordinated the moving of 200 pupils in and out of 10 classrooms, into the lecture theatre, and off to and back from lunch like a well-choreographed dance, and the day ended with two of them sharing their own personal journeys into computing, cyber security and higher education, captivating the audience with their stories.
They created and delivered an engaging and inspiring day.
