CyberFirst Conference 2026 Celebrates Collaboration Between Industry and Education
The CyberFirst Yorkshire & Humber Conference 2026 brought together more than 90 organisations from across the region, including schools, colleges, universities, employers, and national partners, for a day dedicated to strengthening the cyber and tech talent pipeline. Hosted at the University of Leads’ Nexus building, the event showcased how collaboration between education and industry is shaping opportunities for young people in an increasingly digital world.
Speakers from Ofcom, the NCSC, NHS England, the Regional Organised Crime Unit, and CyberFirst Ambassadors shared insights into rapid technology changes, emerging threats, and the essential skills young people will need for the future.
CyberFirst Ambassadors underlined the importance of making career paths visible through inspiring Lightning Talks:
You can’t be what you can’t see. It’s vital that we break tech down into clearly defined roles so young people can imagine themselves in these careers.” Accenture
Students also shared personal reflections:
“Being involved in CyberFirst changed how I think about my role as a student. It’s not just about technical skills; it’s about developing as a person.” Sheffield Hallam University
A thought provoking panel discussion on “Encouraging the Next Generation in Tech” brought together representatives from Allerton High, the University of Leeds, CyberFirst and Yorkshire Water.
Attendees also took part in a hands‑on collaboration sprint, led my CYBERFIT exploring practical ways to widen access, build confidence, and support learners from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Celebrating Shared Purpose
Throughout the day, delegates spoke about the value of bringing educators and industry professionals together:
“The CyberFirst conference was a fantastic reminder of the power of bringing like‑minded people together. Building connections between educators and industry strengthens the talent pipeline and inspires the next generation of cyber professionals.” CyberFirst Ambassador, Yorkshire Water
Teachers praised the event for giving them space to learn, network and reflect on how industry links can enrich the curriculum:
“I took away so many new ideas I want to bring back to my school and local area. It was a great day of networking, I only wish there was more time to do even more of it!” Teacher, Allerton High School
Industry partners also emphasised how collaboration with schools helps clarify cyber career opportunities:
“The conference was a fantastic opportunity to connect with others passionate about the future of cyber and AI in education. Hands‑on workshops show young people just how exciting a future in cyber can be.” CyberFirst Ambassador, CirKits Ltd®
This year’s conference showcased the region’s growing ecosystem of initiatives from CyberFirst Schools and bursary programmes to Cyber Horizons, Cyber Career Pathways, Cyber Switch Up, and STEMFest all designed to give young people hands‑on experience and clearer routes into cyber and tech careers.
The message from delegates was clear: Yorkshire & Humber is building an inclusive, future‑focused community around cyber education, and continued progress depends on industry and education working side by side.
CyberFirst Yorkshire & Humber extends sincere thanks to all speakers, ambassadors, exhibitors, educators, and partners who contributed time, insight, and expertise to make the event a success.
