What an incredible day the CyberFirst Team had at the Cyber Switch Up competition for 2025 at the University of Hull. It is a highlight in our calendar to support this event which is organised and run by the Yorkshire and Humber Reginal Organised Crime Unit, a particular shout out goes to Richard Wallis, Nathan Clarke and Claire A.
This year's competition was sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS). There were 5200 sign-ups from students across the Yorkshire & Humber Region within Key Stages 3, 4 & 5, with over 4500 (87%) of those participating in the initial Online Qualifier. From this, the top performing 25 students from each Key Stage group were selected and invited to attend the Live Finals Event at the University of Hull. The students competed for the title in four challenging cyber and digital related exercises, which were hosted by Cyber Switch Up competition Partners: Laetitia Sterling MCMI ChMC (IBM), Stuart Lewis & Jake Baker (UK Civil Aviation Authority),The Royal Corps of Signals and Nicole Rodney (BAE Systems).
The busy Exhibition Hall hosted 14 other Partner Organisations who were there to engage, inspire and educate the Finalists around Cyber and Digital opportunities, pathways and careers. Hannah Wright (CirKits Ltd®), Royal Air Force (RAF), Zara Clarke (RTC North / CyberFirst Yorkshire), British Army - Intelligence Corps, Nimo Ali (Yorkshire Water), Damian S.
