Highlighting our Brilliant CyberFirst Ambassadors

image001.png

Claire Garside was supported by two brilliant CyberFirst Ambassadors whose commitment and time volunteering with students across the CyberFirst Yorkshire and Humber region is invaluable.

Big thanks to Chris McLaughlin and Sharon Hopkins, CDMP for sharing their journeys, knowledge and roles in cybersecurity, data protection, and instilling digital safety, all of which help inspire the current generation of students. They were fun to work with, challenging common stereotypes about computing and AI along the way and showing students diverse pathways into the industry.

Meanwhile, Year 8 students at the workshop were fully engaged in a CyberFirst Trailblazer investigative activity, a perfect example of hands-on learning helping build equity in computing from KS3 to KS4.

In the background, a group of these robots is generating excitement at the computing club, regularly drawing 30 students to creative projects and social computing. This approach contributed to the school gaining the 'I Belong' certificate from the National Centre for Computing Education and the Computing Mark accreditation.
